SPANISH NUCLEAR EXTENSION

ENERDATA 23 Mar 2021 - The Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge has extended the operating licence for the 1,064 MW Cofrentes nuclear power plant in the province of Valencia until 30 November 2030. The reactor is 100% owned by Iberdrola. In February 2021, the Nuclear Safety Council (Consejo De Seguridad Nuclear, CSN) approved the renewal of the permit. The plant, which entered commercial operations in 1984, is scheduled to be decommissioned at the expiry of the current licence in 2030.
