Masdar and Hassan Allam Utilities have signed preliminary agreements with several parastatals in Egypt to set up a strategic platform that targets an electrolyser capacity of 4 GW in Egypt by 2030

Egypt targets 20% of electricity production from renewables in 2022 (10% achieved in 2020) and 42% for 2030, with 25% from solar, 14% from wind, and 2% from hydropower.

The training programme for the El-Dabaa personnel will begin with by a Russian language course, which students will study for six months.

The meeting ended with the signing ceremony launching the production of units for melt localisation devices for units 1&2 of the El-Dabaa NPP under construction in Egypt.

Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported on 19 July that Egypt had suspended planned meetings with Rosatom, again citing tensions over GERD.

"Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Russian and Egyptian teams, the challenging task of documentation agreement was promptly accomplished, taking into account the technical requirements of the EPC Ccontract and adaptation to the site conditions," added Grigory Sosnin, ASE's director of the El-Dabaa NPP construction project.
