EUROPEAN ELECTRICITY PRICES RECORDS
So far, in 2022, spot electricity prices are five to ten times higher than in previous years. On August 22, the daily spot market price for Germany exceeded 600 EUR/MWh, 15 times the average of the 2010s.

U.S. GAS PRODUCTION DOWN ANEW
The preliminary level for dry natural gas production in September 2020 was 2,678 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 89.3 Bcf/d. This level was 5.4 Bcf/d (-5.7%) lower than the September 2019 level of 94.7 Bcf/d.

U.S. PRIMARY ENERGY CONSUMPTION 100 QUADRILLION BTU
U.S. primary energy consumption totaled 100 quadrillion Btu, a 1% decrease from 2018. Natural gas consumption increased 3%, renewable energy consumption and nuclear electric power consumption each increased less than 1%, petroleum consumption decreased less than 1%, and coal consumption decreased 14%.

SAUDI'S OIL PRICES DOWN
A Saudi industry source said the world's biggest oil exporter is merely responding to Novak's comments that as of April 1, countries are no longer bound by their quotas. The current OPEC+ agreement to cut 1.7 million b/d winds up at the end of March.

U.S. GAS PRICES DOWN
In 2019, natural gas spot prices at the national benchmark Henry Hub in Louisiana averaged $2.57 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), about 60 cents per MMBtu lower than in 2018 and the lowest annual average price since 2016.

"They still do not have permission from Russia to cross the border [after June 1] so the Kazakh company has decided to wait," a source at a major Ukrainian trading company said Tuesday. "No one knows exactly what's going to happen in June."
