ASIA'S WIND ENERGY WILL UP
Global wind power could rise ten-fold reaching over 6000 GW by 2050. By midcentury, wind could cover one third of global power needs and – combined with electrification – deliver a quarter of the energy-related carbon emission reductions needed to meet the Paris climate targets. To reach this objective, onshore and offshore wind capacity will need to increase four-fold and ten-fold respectively every year compared to today.

PEMEX BONDS UP
The bonds have rallied to their highest since April 2018 as money managers turn more sanguine about the state oil firm following a $7.5 billion bond sale to refinance its debt, potentially staving off another ratings downgrade. Pemex’s dollar-denominated bonds maturing in 2027 jumped 14% from their November low to 105.4 cents on the dollar, climbing for an eighth consecutive day on Tuesday.

RENEWABLE ENERGY BENEFITS
As the IRENA Director-General Francesco La Camera said recently at the International Energy Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: “It is perfectly possible to generate sufficient cheap, reliable energy from renewable sources. Not only is it possible, but it is also our best option, as it would bring higher socio-economic benefits than business as usual, and it would allow us to effectively address climate change.”
