NORWAY'S OIL UP OF 26 TBD

NORWAY'S OIL UP OF 26 TBD

NPD - Preliminary production figures for December 2017 show an average daily production of 1 932 000 barrels of oil, NGL and condensate, which is an increase of 26 000 barrels per day compared to November.

Total gas sales were 11.2 billion Sm3 (GSm3), which is an increase of 0.3 GSM3 from the previous month.

Average daily liquids production in December was: 1 538 000 barrels of oil, 363 000 barrels of NGL and 31 000 barrels of condensate.

Oil production is approx. 4 percent lower than the NPD's forecast, and about 1.7 percent below the forecast this year.

The main reasons that production in December was below forecast is that Goliat was closed until the 17th of December and technical problems and maintenance work on some other fields.

The total petroleum production in 2017 inclusive preliminary December figures was 238.7 million Sm3 oil equivalents (MSm3 o.e.), broken down as follows: 92.3 MSm3 o.e. of oil, 22.2 MSm3 o.e. of NGL and condensate and 124.2 MSm3 o.e. of gas for sale. The total volume is 6.0 MSm3 o.e. higher than in 2016.

Final production figures from November 2017 show an average daily production of about 1.510 million barrels of oil, 0.396 million barrels of NGL and condensate and a total of 10.9 billion Sm3 saleable gas production.

NORWAY'S OIL & GAS WILL UP

NPD - The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s production forecast up to 2022 shows an increase from 2020, when Johan Sverdrup has come on stream. Total production of oil and gas in 2022 is estimated to be close to the record‐breaking year 2004. Gas will then account for about one‐half of the production.

NORWAY'S OIL PROBLEMS

BLOOMBERG - Norway’s oil production has been halved since a 2000 peak. While natural-gas output has surged, total production is forecast to fall again in the middle of the next decade. A flurry of investment decisions at the end of last year hides a painful truth: after Statoil’s $6 billion Johan Castberg oil field starts production in the Barents in 2022, the project pipeline is scant.

NORWAY SELLS OIL & GAS

Norway, which relies on oil and gas for about a fifth of economic output, would be less vulnerable to declining crude prices without its fund investing in the industry, the central bank said Thursday. The divestment would mark the second major step in scrubbing the world’s biggest wealth fund of climate risk, after it sold most of its coal stocks.

HUGE NORWAY'S OIL & GAS

“We have been producing oil and gas in Norway for nearly 50 years and we are still not halfway done. Vast volumes of oil and gas have been discovered on the Norwegian shelf that are still waiting to be produced. We want companies with the ability and willingness to utilise new knowledge and advanced technology. This will yield profitable production for many decades in the future,” says Ingrid Sølvberg, Director of development and operations in the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

NORWAY'S INVESTMENT DOWN 21%

Total investment in oil and natural gas extraction in Norway was 21% lower in the first half of 2016 compared with the first half of 2015, a decline of about 20.9 billion Norwegian kroner (US $3.5 billion). However, investment cuts have affected some segments of the industry more than others.
