UKRAINE'S GAS PRICE: +23%

UKRAINE'S GAS PRICE: +23%

INTERFAX-UKRAINE - National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy has published final prices of natural gas for households and municipal heat supply enterprises for the period from November 1, 2018 through April 30, 2019.

According to a new formula for calculating the price of gas approved by government resolution No. 867 dated October 19, 2018, the price of gas sold by Naftogaz under public service obligations (PSO) to supply gas as commodity will be UAH 6,235.51 per 1,000 cubic meters (VAT not included) or UAH 7,482.61 per 1,000 cubic meters with VAT.

The final price of gas for households (taking into account transportation, distribution costs and VAT) will be UAH 8,548.92 per 1,000 cubic meters (a rise of 22.9% on the price that is in effect since April 1, 2017), and for municipal heat supply enterprises – UAH 8,361.85 per 1,000 cubic meters (a rise of 22.8%).

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers in resolution No. 867 extended PSO of Naftogaz Ukrainy to sell natural gas to households, religious organizations and heat producers until May 1, 2020.

The government also reviewed the pricing formula for the sale of gas under PSO, taking as a basis the arithmetic average gas sale/supply price of Naftogaz to industrial consumers for July-September of the current year in the amount of UAH 8,981 per 1,000 cubic meters (excluding VAT and transportation and delivery costs). A reduction factor of 0.6943 is applied to this price to calculate the price of gas for households and heat producers from November 1, 2018 through April 30, 2019 and a factor of 0.8 to calculate the price of gas from May 1, 2019.
