NORGES BANK - 21 August 2019 - 2Q 2019 Quarterly report

The Government Pension Fund Global returned 3.0 percent, or 256 billion kroner, in the second quarter of 2019.

Equity investments returned 3.0 percent, while investments in unlisted real estate returned 0.8 percent. Fixed-income investments returned 3.1 percent.

The return on the fund's investments was 0.2 percentage point lower than the return on the reference index the fund is measured against.

The fund had a market value of 9,162 billion kroner at the end of the quarter and was invested 69.3 percent in equities, 2.7 percent in unlisted real estate and 28.0 percent in fixed income.

The Scandinavian nation’s parliament voted on Wednesday to instruct its $1 trillion fund to pull an estimated more than $13 billion from oil, gas and coal extracting companies and move up to $20 billion into renewable-energy projects and companies, representing around 2% of the fund.

The Government is allowing for the Government Pension Fund Global to be invested in unlisted renewable energy infrastructure under the dedicated environmental mandates. Such investments shall be subject to the same profitability and transparency requirements as the other investments of the Fund, says Siv Jensen, Minister of Finance.
