IAEA, ASEAN COOPERATION

WNN - 16 September 2019 - The use of nuclear science and technology for peaceful purposes is to become more widespread in Southeast Asia following the signing today of Practical Arrangements between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The Practical Arrangements were signed by IAEA Acting Director General Cornel Feruta and ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi during the IAEA's General Conference in Vienna.

Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has renewed its 2017 Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy with Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom. The document was signed by Mohamed Al Hammadi, CEO of ENEC, and Alexey Likhachov, Rosatom director general, in Abu Dhabi during Russian President Vladimir Putin's official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
