U.S. RENEWABLES CONSUMPTION 12%

U.S. EIA - On January 28, 2020, EIA released its primary report on recent and historical energy statistics, the Monthly Energy Review (MER). Preliminary estimates for October 2019 indicate that

· U.S. renewable energy consumption totaled 924 trillion British thermal units (Btu), which accounted for 12% of U.S. total primary energy consumption. 

· Biomass accounted for 45% of U.S. renewable energy consumption, wind energy for 28%, hydroelectric power for 16%, solar energy for 9%, and geothermal energy for 2%. 

· As a share of U.S. primary energy consumption, renewable energy consumption accounted for 19% in the residential sector, 18% in the electric power sector, 10% in the industrial sector, 7% in the commercial sector, and 5% in the transportation sector.
