BRAZIL'S SOLAR POWER UP BY 19%

RENEWABLESNOW- February 20  - Brazil's solar power output in the first 15 days of the month went up to 587 average megawatts (MWa) from 495 MWa a year ago for a 18.6% increase.

Wind generation, on the other hand, experienced a drop of 7.6% to 4,035 MWa. Its share in the mix went down to 5.8% from 6.2% a year ago, shows the Power Trading Chamber (CCEE)'s InfoMercado Semanal, the weekly bulletin for energy generation and consumption.

Biomass power generation was flat at 850 MWa. Hydropower plants (HPPs) produced 55,665 MWa, slightly up from 55,131 MWa a year back.

The total electricity generation in the first half of February decreased by 1.6% year-on-year, with 69,443 MWa delivered to the National Interconnected System (SIN). Demand arrived at 65,894 MWa, or 1.9% less than a year earlier.
