NETHERLANDS RENEWABLE INVESTMENT €5 BLN

NETHERLANDS RENEWABLE INVESTMENT €5 BLN

ENERDATA - 19 Feb 2020 - The Ministry of Economy and Climate of the Netherlands has presented its Sustainable Energy Transition Incentive Scheme (SDE ++) that will be open to solar PV, wind, and other renewable technologies, including Carbon, Capture and Storage (CCS), electric water heater and heat pumps. Up to €5bn of incentives will be available and renewable projects will have to be submitted between 29 September and 22 October 2020. The projects will be ranked based on an expected subsidy per ton of CO2 emissions avoided (€90t/CO2 for building-mounted solar PV above 1 MW, €116/tCO2 for ground-mounted solar PV, €175/tCO2 for floating solar), with projects requiring more than €300/tCO2 being excluded in principle.

In addition, the Dutch government plans to commit another €5bn for a new SDE+ round and €1.5-2bn for a bonus round. The Netherlands is the European country with the lowest share of renewable in its energy mix with only 7.4% in 2018.
