THE NEW NIGERIA'S LNG

THE NEW NIGERIA'S LNG

THEENERGYYEAR - May 14, 2020 - Nigeria LNG took a major step forward by signing the EPC contract for its Train 7, with the country's petroleum minister announcing the deal on Wednesday.

"The construction phase of Train 7 can now commence in earnest," Chief Timipre Sylva, minister of state for petroleum resources, said.

The contract was awarded to a consortium of Saipem, Chiyoda and Daewoo, with a total value of more than USD 4 billion, according to Saipem.

The addition of the seventh train is slated to increase NLNG’s capacity from 22 million to 30 million tonnes per year.

“I don’t know of any African country that has a seven-train LNG facility,” Minister Sylva told The Energy Year in April, hailing the country’s role as a leading gas player on the continent.
