DENMARK'S WIND PARK 1 GW $2.5 BLN
RENEWABLES NOW - January 14, 2021 - The Danish Energy Agency announced on Thursday that it has pre-qualified a total of six consortia and companies to take part in the tender to build an offshore wind park in the North Sea with a capacity of 800 MW to 1,000 MW.
The agency said it pre-qualified all parties that applied to participate in the competitive process for the Thor project as all six applications met the criteria for financial and technical capacity. The names of the selectees are available below.

The winner, to be decided at the end of 2021, will get a 30-year licence with the possibility for a five-year extension. It should complete the project by end-2027 at the latest. The first turbine can be hooked to the grid as early as January 1, 2025.
“It is a strong set of players that has applied to be prequalified to bid for building Thor Offshore Wind Farm. This confirms that Denmark remains an attractive country when it comes to investments in offshore wind,” said Janni Torp Kjærgaard, deputy director of the agency.
The Thor wind park will be built off the coast of Thorsminde at an estimated cost of DKK 15.5 billion (USD 2.53bn/EUR 2.08bn). Once up and running, the facility will be the largest of its kind in the country and will be able to supply power to about 800,000 local homes.
