SOUTHERN GAS CORRIDOR DELIVERIES
OM - Jan 4th, 2021 - bp and its partners have started commercial gas deliveries to southeast Europe from the Shah Deniz gas field in the Caspian Sea via the new Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) pipeline system.
Gas is now flowing through the final section of the SGC – the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) crossing the Adriatic Sea from western Albania to eastern Italy – with the full SGC system extending 3,500 km (2,175 mi) from Azerbaijan.
Initially, gas from Shah Deniz passes through the South Caucasus Pipeline expansion (SCPx) and Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP).
bp expects the Phase II development field to eventually deliver 16 bcm/yr to markets nearby and in Europe via the SGC. Other partners are TPAO, AzSD, SGC Upstream, Petronas, Lukoil, and NICO.
Since start-up in 2006 (Phase I), Shah Deniz has produced more than 130 bcm of gas and more than 31 MM metric tons (34.2 MM tons) of condensate.

TURKEY'S GAS IMPORTS UP
In October 2020, the country imported 3.24 bcm of natural gas via pipelines, while 795 million cubic meters (mcm) was purchased as liquefied natural gas (LNG), EPDK's data showed. This marked an increase in pipeline gas imports of 36.2% and 2.5% in LNG imports.

SOUTHERN GAS CORRIDOR EXTENDING
The $40 billion Southern Gas Corridor comprises the 16 Bcm/year BP-operated Shah Deniz 2 field offshore Azerbaijan, the expanded South Caucasus Pipeline via Georgia, the TANAP pipeline in Turkey and the 10 Bcm/year TAP link to Italy.
