WIND POWER FOR UZBEKISTAN 2.5 GW
ENERDATA - 26 Jan 2021 - ACWA Power has officially launched the construction of the 1,500 MW Sirdarya CCGT power plant in Uzbekistan. The CCGT project will have an efficiency rate of over 60% and an approximate worth of US$1.2bn. It is expected to meet 15% of power demand in Uzbekistan when commissioned. In addition, ACWA Power has signed two power purchase and investment agreements for two wind power plants with a total capacity of 1,000 MW, the Bash project located in Bukhara and the Dzhankeldy project in Bukhara/Navoi. The two wind power plants, which will be powered by 200 turbines, have a total investment value of US$1.3bn. They are expected to contribute to the national target of 30% of renewable power capacity by 2030.
