CHILE RENEWABLES 80%
ENERDATA - 25 Oct 2021 - Chile has unveiled a new National Energy Policy, a roadmap for the development of the sector, which targets 80% of renewables in power generation by 2030 and 100% by 2050 (up from 48% in 2020, including hydropower). The National Energy Policy aims to reach 100% access to electricity for all households by 2030 and to reduce PM2.5 emissions by 70% by 2050. It also targets 100% of electric cars in the sales of new light and medium vehicles, and zero-emission urban public transports by 2035, promoting electric vehicles in urban public transport. Chile will also seek to be an exporter of green hydrogen and derivatives by 2030 and to have 15% of zero emission fuels (such as green hydrogen) in non-electric final energy uses by 2035 (70% by 2050). The document will be submitted for public consultation.
