CHINA'S WIND, SOLAR POWER 1 GW
ENERDATA - 8 Dec 2021 - The Chinese National Energy Administration (NEA) has opened applications for large-scale wind and solar PV projects under the second phase of the country's desert renewables scheme, including the Gobi Desert. Provincial-level energy authorities have to submit projects by 15 December 2022. Individual projects must have an installed capacity of 1 GW and integrate both wind and solar PV where possible. The projects are expected to be completed in 2023-2024.
China aims to reach more than 1,200 GW of installed wind and solar capacity by 2030. As of end-2020, the country had nearly 282 GW of installed solar capacity, and over 253 GW of wind capacity.
