INDONESIA'S RENEWABLES UP BY 11.7 GW

ENERDATA24 Mar 2021 - The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources plans to increase the country’s renewables capacity by 11.7 GW between 2021 and 2025, according to the draft 2021–2025 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL).

Indonesia has a total capacity of 67 GW (end of 2019), distributed as follows: 52% coal, 27% gas, 10% oil, 8% hydroelectricity, and 3% geothermal. The total capacity has increased by 33 GW since 2010, of which around 22 GW of coal and 8 GW of gas. Where renewables are concerned, over 4 GW of capacity are under construction, including 2.7 GW of hydropower and 1.4 GW of geothermal. Another 39 GW are in various phases of development, including nearly 24 GW of hydropower and 14 GW of geothermal.
