TURKEY'S SOLAR POWER 9.4 GW
ENERDATA - 18 Mar 2021 - The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey has received 709 applications totalling 9,440 MW for 74 upcoming mini solar Renewable Energy Resource Zone (YEKA) tenders with a quota of 1 GW in 36 provinces throughout the country. The tenders were oversubscribed 9.6 times on average and they are expected to raise US$1bn in investments. Bidders had to submit an offer for at least 20 MW, at a ceiling price of TRY0.35/kWh (€3.89c/kWh). Winners will sign 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the state.
Turkey aims to produce 50% of its electricity from renewables by 2023 (up from 44% in 2019). Solar accounts for around 7% of Turkey’s installed capacity, with 6 GW at the end of 2019.

TURKEY'S GAS IMPORTS UP
In October 2020, the country imported 3.24 bcm of natural gas via pipelines, while 795 million cubic meters (mcm) was purchased as liquefied natural gas (LNG), EPDK's data showed. This marked an increase in pipeline gas imports of 36.2% and 2.5% in LNG imports.
