REUTERS - U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures CLc1 were at $60.77 a barrel at 0753 GMT, up 6 cents, or 0.1 percent, from their previous settlement. Brent crude futures LCOc1 were at $64.62 per barrel, down just 2 cents from their last close.

OIL PRICES 2018 - 19: $62

EIA - North Sea Brent crude oil spot prices averaged $65 per barrel (b) in February, a decrease of $4/b from the January level and the first month-over-month average decrease since June 2017. EIA forecasts Brent spot prices will average about $62/b in both 2018 and 2019 compared with an average of $54/b in 2017.

WIND FOR TAIWAN 900 MW

RENEWABLES NOW - March 22 - Danish energy major Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) announced that it has launched full-scale offshore construction of the 900-MW Greater Changhua 1 & 2a wind projects off the coast of Taiwan.

The company started with horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to prepare for cable laying and executing scour protection works to make the seabed ready for foundation installation. Onshore, Ørsted is working on finalising civil works on the two substation main buildings and the upgrade work of the hinterland at wharfs 36 and 37 at the Port of Taichung for storing key components for offshore installation, the wind power major said in a press release.

The wind farm complex will be located some 35km to 60km (21.7 miles to 37.3 miles) off the coast of Changhua County.

Cable laying and installation of the offshore substations and foundations will begin in 2021, followed by turbine installation next year when the construction process is set to complete.

Once in full swing, the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind farms will generate enough electricity to power one million households.
