EUROPEAN CLIMATE LAW

EUROPEAN CLIMATE LAW

ENERDATA22 Apr 2021 - The European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Council of EU nations have reached a provisional agreement on the European Climate Law, which enshrines the EU's commitment to reaching climate neutrality by 2050 and the intermediate target of reducing net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. In addition, the agreement recognises the needs to enhance the EU's carbon sink through a more ambitious LULUCF (land use, land-use change and forestry) regulation and it creates the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change, that will provide independent scientific advice.
