INDIA'S ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION UP 8%

ENERDATA6 Apr 2021 - The state-owned Indian power utility NTPC has registered a +8.2% increase in electricity production in 2020/21 reaching 314 TWh (April 2020 to March 2021). The group also added 4,160 MW of capacity over the past year reaching 65,180 MW on 31 March 2021, with 70 power plants including 26 renewable projects. NTPC has over 18 GW of capacity under construction, including 5 GW of renewable energy projects.

In addition, the company has announced the commissioning of the second unit of the Nabiganar coal-fired project (3 x 660 MW) in Aurangabad district, Bihar (eastern India). The first unit (Nabiganar-1) was commissioned in July 2019, while the third one (Nabiganar-3) is scheduled to enter into operation in July 2022.
