RUSSIA'S NUCLEAR FOR ETHIOPIA

ROSATOM - 15 April, 2021 - April 15, 2021 in Moscow ROSATOM and the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia signed two Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation in training and skills development in the field of nuclear energy and in the field of shaping positive public opinion on nuclear energy in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

On the Russian side, the document signed ROSATOM Deputy Director General – Director of International Affairs Department Nikolay Spasskiy, and on the Ethiopian Side – Honorable Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Alemayehu Tegenu.

The documents are creating solid framework conditions for cooperation in these key areas for the development of the Ethiopian programme of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

In particular, specific steps are envisaged to train human resources for the Ethiopian nuclear industry. Efforts will be made to develop interaction between specialized educational institutions, including the organization of joint short-term programs, teacher training, the development of educational and scientific literature and student exchange.

The Memorandum of Understanding on shaping positive public opinion involves preparation of activities aimed at working with the public and Ethiopian media, as well as informing the population about nuclear technologies.
