NORWAY'S WIND ENERGY 1.4 GW

NORWAY'S WIND ENERGY 1.4 GW

ENERDATA27 May 2021 - Two consortia have announced plans to apply for a licence to build a 1.4 GW subsidy-free offshore wind project in the Sørlige Nordsjø II area off southern Norway. The project is expected to cost NOK30-35bn (€2.9-3.4bn). The first consortium composed of Norseman Wind, ASKO Fornybar, NorgesGruppen, has been joined by the German energy group EnBW. In addition, Equinor, RWE Renewables and Hydro have reached an agreement to jointly bid for the Sørlige Nordsjø II area.

The licenses for development in the Sørlige Nordsjø II licensing area as well as the Utsira North area are expected to be granted by the government through a competitive process in 2021.
