TAIWAN OFFSHORE WIND 15 GW
ENERDATA - 12 May 2021 - Taiwan intends to increase the volume tendered in its upcoming offshore wind Round 3 from 10 GW to 15 GW. The authorities plan to add 1.5 GW/year of offshore wind capacity from 2026 until 2035, instead of previously planned 1 GW/year. Taiwan is expected to develop a total of 9 GW of offshore wind between 2026 and 2031 and 6 GW between 2032 and 2035.
The Bureau of Energy within the Ministry of Economic Affairs will launch the first binding round for 3 GW of offshore wind projects with commercial operation dates in 2026-2027 in the second or third quarter of 2022. A second round for another 3 GW to be commissioned in 2028-2029 is expected in the second quarter of 2023 and the third round for 3 GW to be commissioned in 2030-2031 is expected in the second quarter of 2024. The dates for the offshore projects to be commissioned between 2032 and 2035 will be announced later. Developers will be allowed to bid with projects between 100 and 500 MW.
