OIL PRICE: NOT ABOVE $65

REUTERS - U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures CLc1 were at $60.77 a barrel at 0753 GMT, up 6 cents, or 0.1 percent, from their previous settlement. Brent crude futures LCOc1 were at $64.62 per barrel, down just 2 cents from their last close.

OIL PRICES 2018 - 19: $62

EIA - North Sea Brent crude oil spot prices averaged $65 per barrel (b) in February, a decrease of $4/b from the January level and the first month-over-month average decrease since June 2017. EIA forecasts Brent spot prices will average about $62/b in both 2018 and 2019 compared with an average of $54/b in 2017.

CHILE'S RENEWABLES 2 GW

ENERDATA - 27 Jul 2021 - The Ministry of National Assets and the Ministry of Energy of Chile have announced that more than 20,000 hectares will be made available in 2021 for the development of around 2,040 MW of renewable projects in the region of Antofagasta in northern Chile. The country expects to attract around US$1.8bn in investment.

In 2013, Chile approved a new legal target of 20% by 2025 for the share of non-conventional renewables in the power mix (23% in 2020). Non-conventional renewables accounted for 26% of Chile’s installed capacity at the end of 2020, with 3.6 GW of solar, 2.5 GW of wind, and 1.5 GW of biomass.

In June 2021, the Chamber of Deputies of Chile has approved a bill that prohibits the installation and operation of coal-fired power plants.
