NORWAY OIL & GAS UP

NORWAY OIL & GAS UP

ENERDATA2 Jul 2021 - Equinor has started the Martin Linge oil and gas field in the Norwegian North Sea. Expected recoverable resources are approximately 260 Mboe and plateau production will average 115,000 boe/d in 2022. The oil will be processed on a storage vessel and transported to the market in shuttle tankers, while the gas will flow through a new pipeline connecting the field to the existing pipeline going to St. Fergus, Scotland (United Kingdom).

The field was discovered in 1978 and originally expected to enter into production in 2016, but its start-up has been delayed several times. Consequently, the development costs have doubled to NOK63bn (US$7.3bn). The Martin Linge field is owned by Equinor (70%) and the Norwegian state-owned oil and gas company Petoro (30%).

NORWAY'S OFFSHORE WIND
Norway does not actually need offshore wind farms for power - nearly all its electricity comes from renewables already - but instead sees the sector as a means of helping its vast oil and gas industry secure a new, low-carbon business model for the future.
