CHINA'S HYDROPOWER UP

CHINA'S HYDROPOWER UP

ENERDATA10 Sep 2021 - China has unveiled a plan to expand its pumped-storage hydropower capacity to 62 GW in 2025 and 120 GW in 2030. Hydro currently accounts for 16% of China’s installed capacity with more than 370 GW (2020), and the pumped-storage capacity stands at 33.3 GW. China plans to set up globally competitive companies to use advanced technologies by 2035. Pumped-storage hydropower plants are expected to help ensure stable power grid operations and boost renewable power consumption.
