INDIA'S RENEWABLE ENERGY 1.2 GW
ENERDATA - 6 Sep 2021 - The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has awarded 1,200 MW of wind projects as part of the Tranche XI auction for 1,200 MW of interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind power projects in India. 300 MW were awarded to ReNew Power, 180 MW to Green Infra Wind Energy (Sembcorp) and 150 MW to Anupavan Renewables (EverGreen) at a tariff of INR2.69/kWh (US$3.69c/kWh). In addition, Adani Renewable Energy won 450 MW and Azure Power 120 MW at INR2.70/kWh (US$3.7c/kWh). The discovered tariff of this auction is nearly 3% lower than the lowest bid in the Tranche X auction.
The tender was initiated in May 2021. Project developers were allowed to bid for a minimum capacity of 50 MW, and up to a maximum of 1,200 MW until 6 July 2021. The successful projects, which are to be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis, will have to be completed within 18 months and will sign 25-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with SECI. SECI will then sell procured power to distribution companies of Madhya Pradesh.
