NORWAY'S WIND ENERGY 1.5 GW
ENERDATA - 13 Sep 2021 - RWE, NTE and Havfram have signed a collaboration agreement to jointly participate in the Norwegian government’s tender process for floating offshore wind energy, which will begin later in 2021. Partners would submit a bid for the Utsira Nord area, with an estimated offshore wind potential of 1.5 GW. RWE has also expressed interest in another offshore wind area, Sørlige Nordsjø II.
The upcoming allocation round is expected to consist of up to 4.5 GW across the two areas (Utsira Nord and Sørlige Nordsjø II), with the technical potential being much higher. Earlier in 2021, three other consortia were formed to take part in the auction: one which includes Ørsted, Fred. Olsen Renewables and Hafslund Eco, a second one with BP, Aker and Staktraft and a third one comprising Shell, BKK and Lyse.
