RUSSIA'S GAS FOR HUNGARY
ENERDATA- 1 Sep 2021 - Hungary and Russia have reached a 15-year agreement on the supply of Russian gas, which is set to enter into force on 1 October 2021. Gazprom will supply 4.5 bcm/year of natural gas to Hungary, with 3.5 bcm/year via Serbia and 1 bcm/year via Austria. Hungary should benefit from a better price than under the current contract signed in 2020 and expiring in September 2021; the country will have the possibility to modify purchased quantities after 10 years.
Hungary is also in talks with Russia on a contract for the construction of the Paks-2 nuclear power project in Hungary. Rosatom could start building the new reactor in 2022.

The first five months of 2021 Gazprom’s gas exports to Hungary increased by 14.6 per cent compared to the same period of 2020.
