TURKEY, AZERBAIJAN GAS AGREEMENT

ENERDATA29 Sep 2021 - Turkey has renewed a long-term natural gas supply contract with Azerbaijan. The two countries signed a 20-year contract in 2001 for 6.6 bcm/year of natural, which expired in April 2021. In 2020, Turkey imported 48 bcm of natural gas (+7% compared to 2019). Azerbaijan is the second-largest natural gas supplier to Turkey accounting for a quarter of total imports, after Russia (33%).

From January 1 through September 19, 2021, Gazprom delivered 20.3 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey. This is an all-time high amount of gas for this period and an increase of 153 per cent (or 12.3 billion cubic meters) against 2020 (8 billion cubic meters).
