BRITAIN'S OFFSHORE WIND 25 GW
ENERDATA - 18 Jan 2022 - Crown Estate Scotland (United Kingdom) has selected 17 offshore wind projects totalling 24,826 MW as part of its application process for ScotWind Leasing, offering option agreements that reserve the rights to specific areas of seabed. Around £700m (€837m) will be paid by the successful applicants in option fees to the Scottish government. The area of seabed covered by the 17 projects is just over 7,000 km2 (a maximum of 8,600 km2 was made available through the Scottish Government’s Sectoral Marine Plan). Winners includes Scottish Power Renewables with 5,000 MW (3,000 MW of floating and 2,000 MW of fixed projects), Falck Renewables with 2,700 MW (three floating projects of 1,200 MW, 1,000 MW and 500 MW), Northland Power with 2,340 MW (1,500 MW floating and 840 MW fixed), DEME with 2,016 MW (two 1,008 MW projects, fixed and floating), BP (fixed, 2,907 MW), SSE Renewables (floating, 2,610 MW), Offshore Wind Power (fixed, 2,000 MW), Shell (floating, 2,000 MW), Ocean Winds (fixed, 1,000 MW), BayWa (floating, 960 MW), Vattenfall (floating, 798 MW) and Magnora (mixed, 495 MW). A total of 74 applications had been submitted in the ScotWind Leasing process.
