ENERDATA - 18 Jan 2022 - According to the country's National Bureau of Statistics, China's raw coal production increased by 4.7% to 4.07 Gt in 2021 and imports grew by 6.6% to 320 Mt, in a context of declining coal prices. The country's crude oil production also increased by 2.4% (to 199 Mt) in 2021, and imports declined reached 513 Mt (-5.4%). Around 704 Mt of crude were processed in Chinese refineries in 2021 (+4.3%). In addition, China's gas production rose by 8.2% in 2021 (to 205 bcm) and gas imports surged by 20% to more than 121 Mt. Finally, China's power generation increased by 8.1% in 2021 (to 8,112 TWh), spurred by a higher wind and nuclear generation.
