UZBEKISTAN SOLAR POWER 1.1 GW

ENERDATA20 Jan 2022 - The Uzbek presidency has approved the construction of 4 solar PV plants in the country totalling 1.1 GW. Masdar will build three PV plants (457 MW in Sherabad, 220 MW in Gallaaral and 220 MW in Kattakurgan), while one will be constructed by the Dutch company Phanes Energy (200 MW in Nurata). The 4 projects are scheduled to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2023.

The country aims to raise the solar and wind capacity to 8,000 MW by 2026. Solar and wind currently account for less than 1% of the country’s installed capacity, with 4 MW and 1 MW, respectively.
