ENERDATA - 12 Apr 2022 - The Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy and Industry has signed an agreement on the construction of a 1 GW solar project in the Issyk-Kul region (north-eastern Kyrgyzstan) with two Chinese companies, namely Zhao Zhangang (CPID) and Gu Heiyun (CR20G). In addition, the Kyrgyz Republic has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Spain's Ecoener on the construction of a 260 MW solar and hydro project in the Issyk-Kul region.
The country has 4.4 GW of installed capacity, with 3.7 GW of hydro (end-2020). Moreover, several gigawatts of hydropower capacity is currently under development (including the 1.9 GW Kambarata project).

CHINA NON-FOSSIL ELECTRICITY 50%
China, the world's biggest greenhouse gases emitter and coal consumer, is expected to add 180 gigawatts (GW) of new power generation capacity from non-fossil fuel sources during 2022, driving total non-fossil fuel capacity to 1,300 GW, according to a report issued by the China Electricity Council (CEC) late on Thursday.
