PORTUGAL RENEWABLES 80%, €25 BLN

PORTUGAL RENEWABLES 80%, €25 BLN

ENERDATA5 Apr 2022 - The new Portuguese government aims to raise the share of renewables in power generation to 80% by 2026, i.e. four years ahead of its previous target, up from the current 58%. As well, the share of renewables in gross final energy consumption should reach 47% by 2030 and the renewable power capacity should be more than doubled in the next decade. The country bets on solar auctions to accelerate the goals set in the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030 and achieve them as soon as 2026.

Portugal aims to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 and over €25bn should be invested in the energy sector in the next 10 years.
