VIETNAM'S DOUBLE ENERGY

VIETNAM'S DOUBLE ENERGY

ENERDATA28 Apr 2022 - The Vietnamese Appraisal Council has approved the draft Power Master Plan VIII overseeing the national electricity development planning over the 2021-2030 sector, with a vision to 2045. The draft Power Master Plan VIII expects the installed power capacity in Vietnam to more than double between 2020 (around 70 GW) and 2030, when it should reach 146 GW. It also prioritises the development of renewables and seeks to restrict the development of coal-fired power plants; in addition, it opens the door to new energy sources such as hydrogen or ammonia.
