NORWAY'S WIND CAPACITY 30 GW
ENERDATA - 12 May 2022 - The Norwegian government has unveiled a plan for offshore wind, targeting 30 GW of capacity by 2040. The country has opened two offshore wind areas in the North Sea, Utsira Nord and Sørlige Nordsjø II, for the development of up to 4.5 GW of capacity, with the first tender for 1.5 GW expected later in 2022. The first project should be commissioned in 2030. Norway intends to hold licensing rounds for new acreage at regular intervals from 2025 onwards. The country, which has currently no offshore wind capacity, may seek to export its future production.
