GAZPROM GAS PRODUCTION DOWN
GAZPROM - May 16, 2022 - According to preliminary data, Gazprom produced 193.8 billion cubic meters of gas from January 1 through May 15, 2022. This is a decrease of 3.7 per cent (or 7.5 billion cubic meters) versus the same period of 2021.
The Company's domestic supplies from the gas transmission system went down by 3.1 per cent (or 3.9 billion cubic meters). However, they grew by 6.1 per cent in the first half of May against the same period of last year.
It should be noted that in the period from May 2 to 6, gas supplies to Russian consumers via Gazprom's gas transmission system were hitting records for those dates, with an all-time daily high for the month recorded on May 5 at 827.6 million cubic meters.
Gas exports to the countries beyond the FSU in the period from January 1 through May 15, 2022, amounted to 55.9 billion cubic meters, which is 26.5 per cent (or 20.2 billion cubic meters) lower than the figure for the same period of 2021. Gazprom delivers gas under confirmed requests from foreign consumers.
Gas exports to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline keep growing within the framework of the long-term bilateral contract between Gazprom and CNPC.
According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, gas reserves contained in Europe's underground gas storage facilities were replenished by 13.4 billion cubic meters as of May 14. Companies will have to subsequently inject more than 49 billion cubic meters of gas into the UGS facilities to get them 90 per cent full and 59 billion cubic meters to get them at least to the levels of the COVID period (2019–2020).
