SWEDEN WIND ENERGY 2.8 GW

SWEDEN WIND ENERGY 2.8 GW

ENERDATA- 21 Jun 2022 - The Swedish state-owned power utility Vattenfall will buy an 85% stake in two early-stage offshore wind projects in Sweden, totalling 2.8 GW, from Norwegian developer Zephyr.

The Vidar and Poseidon projects, located off Sweden’s west coast near Gothenburg, will primarily consist of floating wind turbines and will be able to generate 10.5 TWh/year of electricity when fully developed. Vattenfall did not yet provide a purchase price for the stake nor a timeline for the project’s construction.

In 2021, wind energy accounted for 27% of Sweden’s installed capacity with 12.1 GW (+21% compared to 2020) and 16% of its power mix with 27.5 TWh.
