BRITAIN ENERGY INVESTMENT €26.7 BLN
ENERDATA - 12 December 2024 - SSEN Transmission, a subsidiary of the British power utility SSE, has unveiled a plan (Business Plan for RIIO-T3) to invest at least GBP22bn (€26.7bn) in power grid infrastructure in the United Kingdom. This sum will be invested over a five-year period, beginning in April 2026. The plan was submitted to the UK’s energy regulator Ofgem.
The investment is aimed at meeting climate change and energy security targets for the UK, delivering a pathway to net zero emissions and helping the UK reach its goal of a decarbonised electricity sector by 2030.
SSEN Transmission has also set out the potential for an additional GBP9.4bn (€11.4bn) of future Uncertainty Mechanism expenditure, which could bring the total expenditure over the period to around GBP31.7bn (€38.5bn).
