INDIA SOLAR POWER 1 GW
ENERDATA- 05 September 2024 - France’s TotalEnergies and India’s Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) have formed a joint venture (JV) for the development of solar projects with a combined capacity of 1.15 GW, located in Khavda, in India’s Gujarat State.
Adani Green Energy will contribute its current assets to the new JV, while TotalEnergies will invest US$444m to advance the development of the projects. The power generated from the solar projects will be sold through power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
At the end of 2023, solar and wind accounted for nearly 24% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 73 GW and 45 GW, while hydropower capacity reached 52 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW.
