Russia's Gazprom on June 16 cut gas supplies via the Nord Stream pipeline to Germany to just 40% of capacity, citing maintenance issues with gas turbines at the key Portovaya compressor station.

Dutch front-month gas, the European benchmark, fell as much as 10%, and was 6.4% lower at 171.49 euros per megawatt-hour at 9:49 a.m. in Amsterdam. The contract has doubled over the past month. The UK equivalent declined 6.2%, but was also heading for a weekly gain.

Russian gas producer Gazprom (GAZP.MM) has cut capacity through the pipeline to just 40%, citing the delayed return of equipment being serviced by Germany's Siemens Energy (SIEGn.DE) in Canada.

Dutch front-month gas, the European benchmark, traded 3.5% higher at 177 euros per megawatt-hour at 8:43 a.m. in Amsterdam.

Russian pipeline exports to Europe in June via its main operational corridors -- Nord Stream, Ukraine and the TurkStream string to Europe -- totaled just 4.69 Bcm, down 41% compared with supplies of 7.93 Bcm in May,

Russia has reduced shipments through its biggest Nord Stream pipeline by 60% and the link is scheduled for a full shutdown next week for maintenance.

The European Commission will next month present a plan for EU countries to coordinate their preparations for further gas shocks, as Russia has already cut or reduced supplies to 12 of the bloc's 27 member states.

Gazprom's gas supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from January 1 to June 15, 2022, increased by 55.5 per cent compared to the same period of 2021.
