NUCLEAR POWER FOR CZECH
The Czech Republic has six nuclear reactors generating about one-third of its electricity. Four VVER-440 units are at Dukovany, in Vysočina Region, and two VVER-1000 units are at Temelín, in South Bohemian Region. The country is phasing out its coal-fired power plants and will need to increase the share of nuclear power if it is to remain self-sufficient in electricity supply.

LNG FOR EUROPE UP
Europe looks set for more LNG imports in the near term as the TTF and NBP prompt months are due to retain premiums to the JKM spot price amid the rising charter costs to Japan and South Korea, traders say.

GAZPROM FOR EUROPE: DOWN 2.5%
Our exports to external markets – to Europe – in nine and a half months amounted to 152.6 billion cubic meters of gas, which, although 2.5 per cent less than in the record year of 2018, is still a 2.6 per cent improvement over 2017. In addition, Gazprom is going to inject 11.4 billion cubic meters of its own gas into European UGS facilities this year.

U.S., TURKEY SANCTIONS
The proposed legislation would also impose sanctions on any military transactions with Turkey, set sanctions on anyone who supports Turkey’s domestic energy industry for use by its armed forces, prohibit the sale of U.S. defense articles to the Turkey armed forces and define Turkey’s purchase of Russia’s S-400 missile defense system as “significant” and subject to sanctions.

RUSSIA, TURKEY AGREEMENT
Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak and his Russian counterpart Anton Siluanov signed an agreement last week on using national currencies in payments and settlements between the two countries, the Russian finance ministry said Tuesday.

U.S., UKRAINE GAS IMPEACHMENT
Mr Zlochevsky, the owner of Burisma, Ukraine’s largest private gas company which acquired several of its extraction licences while he was in government, had lost a political patron when Mr Yanukovich was evicted from office. Weeks later the energy tycoon sought help elsewhere. Burisma made a surprise appointment to its board: Hunter Biden, younger son of then-US vice-president Joe Biden.

IRAN'S OIL, GAS FOR TURKEY
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday it was impossible for Turkey to stop buying oil and natural gas from Iran, despite the threat of U.S. sanctions, and added that trade between the two countries would continue, according to broadcaster NTV.
