NUCLEAR FUEL FOR HUNGARY
The Hungarian government plans to extend the service of the Paks NPP. Four of its reactors, build by Soviet specialists some 40 years ago, are to go out of operation between 2032 and 2037, but their life span may be extended by 20 years, to 2052-2057. At the same time, the plant’s units Five and Six are now being built in accordance with Rosatom’s designs.

JAPAN NEED LNG
Starting in December, Japan will begin operating "Strategic Buffer LNG," or SBL, cargoes in order to be prepared for any supply issues, starting with a minimum of one LNG cargo a month during the country's peak winter demand months over December 2023-February 2024, with JERA having been approved Nov. 24 as the first supplier.

Right now, 6.3 million UK households are in fuel poverty, according to National Energy Action. That’s up from 4.5 million, recorded in October 2021, when Europe’s energy crunch began, it said. OPEC+ ONLINE MEETING
With global oil demand set to moderate in the first quarter of 2024, the OPEC+ alliance appears set to extend its production cuts, though the duration is yet to be determined, analysts say. As well, deeper cuts could be considered, some OPEC+ officials have hinted.

THE NEW FRANCE'S ENERGY & CLIMATE STRATEGY
France aims to reduce its final energy consumption by 30% in 2030 to 104 Mtoe (from around 143 Mtoe in 2022, according to first estimates), compared to 2012, and to reach a primary energy consumption of 157 Mtoe in 2030 (from 212 Mtoe in 2022).

S.KOREA, BRITAIN NUCLEAR COOPERATION
Among the areas for cooperation, the partnership will see the UK and Korea commit to strengthening cooperation on civil nuclear, including on large-scale, small-scale and advanced reactors, decommissioning and waste management, and supply chains.
