Brent climbed 34 cents, or 0.39%, to $86.43 per barrel, WTI rose 40 cents, or 0.49%, to $82.56.

Urals, Russia’s main crude export blend, has traded at a significant discount to the Brent benchmark since the European Union banned almost all seaborne imports of oil and petroleum products from the country, and the Group of Seven industrialized nations imposed a price cap.

Hungary has said it intends to press ahead with its plans for a new Russian-built nuclear power plant at Paks II, despite the Russian war with Ukraine and the European Union (EU) imposition of a range of sanctions against Russia.

Brent settled up 13 cents, or 0.2%, at $85.12 a barrel, WTI closed 9 cents, or 0.1%, higher at $80.70.

This will bring the total additional voluntary production adjustments by the above-mentioned countries to 1.66 million b/d.

Since Turkey can legitimately still import diesel-type fuel from Russia, traders can potentially bring in relatively cheap barrels to meet the country’s energy needs. At the same time, Turkey’s own production could be sold at a higher price to the EU.

The El Dabaa NPP will comprise four units with generation III+ VVER-1200 pressurised water reactors. The NPP is being constructed in accordance with and contracts that entered into force in 2017. The $30bn project is mainly financed through a $25bn Russian loan.

Brent were down 19 cents, or -0.24%, at $79.08 a barrel, WTI fell by 1 cent, or -0.01%, to $74.36.
