The Prohibiting Russian Uranium Imports Act was signed into law by President Joe Biden earlier this month and will go into effect on 11 August. The ban runs until the end of 2040, but the DOE may waive the ban, under certain conditions, to allow the import of limited amounts of material up until 1 January 2028.

Brent were down 60 cents, or 0.7%, to $82.28 a barrel, WTI slipped 64 cents, or 0.8%, to $78.02.

Gazprom, which holds about 16% of global gas reserves and employs 492,200 people, was once one of Russia's most powerful corporate empires - so powerful it was known as "a state within the state".

Brent climbed 21 cents, or 0.25%, to $83.48 a barrel, WTI rose 7 cents, or 0.09%, to $79.30 a barrel.

Brent rose 35 cents, or 0.4%, to $83.10 a barrel, WTI gained 40 cents, or 0.5%, to $79.03.

The country exported a total of 7.3 million barrels a day last month, down 6.4% from March, the Paris-based agency said in its monthly report published Wednesday. That’s Russia’s lowest oil exports in five months, the IEA estimates show.

The passage and signing of this law will ensure the U.S. will no longer be reliant on imported uranium fuel from the Russian Federation.

The legislation is designed to reduce US reliance on Russian uranium for nuclear fuel following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Brent were up 34 cents, or 0.4% at $82.71 a barrel, WTI rose 38 cents, or 0.5%, to $78.39 a barrel.
