Russian gas producers Gazprom and RusGazDobycha will start a major gas processing and liquefaction project near the Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga, Gazprom said on Friday.

Since 2014, gas sales to consumers within the country have grown by 30 per cent, gas transit has increased by 50 per cent, and gas grid coverage has risen from 22 to 30 per cent. In three years (2016–2018), a total of 669 kilometers of distribution pipelines was built, bringing natural gas to an additional 40,500 households.

According to preliminary data, Gazprom supplied the country with 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas between January 1 and March 20, which is 12.1 per cent more than in the same period last year.

In 2018, Gazprom exported to Serbia 2.15 billion cubic meters of gas, a 1.2 per cent increase from 2017 (2.12 billion cubic meters).

In 2018, Gazprom increased gas exports to France by 5.4 per cent as compared to 2017 – up to 12.9 billion cubic meters. This upward trend has remained throughout early 2019: according to provisional estimates, Gazprom exported 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas from January 1 to March 14, 2019, showing a 1.9 per cent increase compared to the same period of 2018.
