A group of 18 Bolivian fellows it going to Russia to take a specialist course in the operation of a research nuclear reactor. Their dedication and talent open the way for us to the future, which will help the development and implementation of innovations in Bolivia.

The reactor complex will allow Bolivia to conduct fundamental and applied scientific research, which will support development of a number of economic sectors, including the lithium industry.

“We are working together with Rosatom to successfully complete the implementation of the first and second stages of construction. The constructed facilities have advanced high-tech equipment,” said Ortesia Jimenez.

Komarov added that the CNTRD is Rosatom's first project in Latin America "of such significance".

The parties discussed issues related to the implementation of current and prospective projects in Bolivia and the elaboration of a General Scheme for the country’s gas industry development.

Russia’s Ambassador to Bolivia, Mikhail Ledenev, and representatives of the Bolivian Ministry of International Affairs accompanied by Alexey Altynov, Vice President of JSC Rusatom Overseas, on 24 March visited the construction site of the Centre for Nuclear Technology Research and Development (CNTRD) in El Alto situated 4,000 metres above sea level.

IMF - Bolivia's real GDP growth is projected at 4.5 percent in 2018, one of the highest rates in the region. Growth is supported by continued accommodative policies, a second economy-wide wage bonus, and strong agriculture output.

IMF - Bolivia achieved impressive economic and social advances from 2006–2014. During that period, real GDP averaged about 5.1 percent annually and the share of population living in the extreme poverty fell by one half. These notable gains now face challenges related to the impact of lower commodity prices.
